Wednesday, 10 September
—
Nicosia

Time: 18:00
Organised by:
What’s it about?

Queer Wave Film Festival, 6th Edition
12-21 September
—
Nicosia

Time: See programme
Location: NiMAC
Organised by: Queer Wave Cyprus
What’s it about?
“In our search for this year’s visual language, we found ourselves revisiting moments from contemporary queer cinema where loss was turned to starlight and a longing for connection depicted as a ghost-touch. Through the cosmic and the mundane, recurring patterns revealed themselves to us: oppression and freedom, life and death, dreams and nightmares, a future that repeats the past. The hope that tomorrow could shine brighter than today.
Witnessing cinema together is a quiet magic that happens when all the other lights go out.
In a world enveloped by darkness, cinema still shines its light.
“Don’t fight the darkness. Don’t even worry about the darkness. Turn on the light and the darkness goes.” — David Lynch (1946–2025)

Protest March: Against the Famine and Genocide in Palestine
Saturday, 13 September
—
Nicosia

Time: 16:30
Start Point: Eleftheria Square, Nicosia
Organised by: Cyprus Peace Council
What’s it about?
We daily witness an on-going and ever-deteriorating catastrophic situation in the Gaza Strip. Thousands of children, women and men die daily due to the man-made famine and humanitarian crisis caused by Israel’s policy of genocide against the Palestinians. An unprecedented ongoing barbarity is unfolding right next to us and we have no right to look away.
We invite all parties, organisations and organised groups to support and participate in the Protest March, so that the demand for a stop to the genocide is as strong as possible. The systematic extermination of an entire people is an unprecedented crime against humanity that cannot go unpunished. Cyprus, a victim of invasion and occupation itself, stands by every people who struggles for freedom and supports Palestine.
